| Till I See YouThe greatest love that anyone could ever know
That overcame the cross and grave to find my soul
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in You
With all I am I'll live to see Your kingdom come
And in my heart I pray You'd let Your will be done
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in You
I will live to love You
I will live to bring You praise
I will live a child in awe of You
You are the voice that calls the universe to be
You are the whisper in my heart that speaks to me
And 'til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I'll trust in you
You alone are God of all
You alone are worthy Lord
And with all I am my soul will bless Your name

| Finally get to update my xanga. Yesterday my professor bumped the due date for my take home final from today until Monday. And then this morning, she bumped it until next Weds (praise God!)
These words Paul had for the Philippians have been on my mind ever since my small group discussed it last Thursday:
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:9-11)
Much of the discussion centered around the confusion I had of whether the love described in this passage was a love for fellow believers or a love for God. At first glance, it seems like Paul's prayer is that the Philippians will love God more through further knowledge and understanding of Him. But after understanding his prayer in context within the book of Philippians, I have come to realize that the passage is also about the love that Christians should have for others - how they can gain more understanding of Christ through an increased Christ-like love for others. It was his prayer that through this increased knowledge and understanding of loving as Christ did, the Philippians would gain more understanding of Christ and be able to discern between what was right and wrong as He would. So in essence it is a feed-back loop: As Christinans, we are called to become more Christ-like. In doing so we know that we need to understand/obey Him in all things. To do this, we need to imitate Him and one way of doing so is to love others as He did. When we express this Christ-like love, we gain increased knowledge and insight into His nature, allowing us to imitate Him more. As we imitate Him more, our love for others increases as well, which feeds back to increasing our understanding of Him, etc. Finally, with each time we understand His nature and become more Christ-like, we grow in our discernment for what is righteous in God's eyes and what is best for us as Christians to remain pure and blameless until Christ returns.
The reason that this passage stuck in my mind was that I realized how immature I am in this area of my Christian growth. I did not understand how loving others could further my walk with Christ (hence my confusion during sg). Just as learning to trust and rely on God in all things was my spiritual goal last year, this year, I want to grow further in Christ by exercising the above so that I may be able to understand, imitate, and grow closer to Him. I need to go beyond my comfort zone and understanding of loving others and act in doing what God commanded in 1 John 4:11-12.
"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."

| Thought of the Day
Today I witnessed something that relates fairly well to the new Crossroads theme: Uncomfortable. I was catching up with a fellow sister (we will call her "Y") after service at my home church when another sister ("R") came up to Y and asked Y to pray for her jetlag. R had just come back from a mission trip in Taiwan and was having trouble getting proper rest at night. Y immediately stopped all activity and sat down to pray with R.
Normally this would seem like a very common practice - people praying for one another. However, what struck me was that Y immediately paused the conversation to pray for R. There was no hesitation - she did not tell R, "Oh sure. I'll definitely pray for you" with the intention of praying for R later on her own. Nor did she delay praying until after the conversation.
I thought this was a great example of how we as fellow believers should care for another. It made me think of how I should act towards my fellow Christians - people whom I call my own brothers and sisters in Christ. I think that as Christians, not only should we continuously encourage one another but we should also take immediate action when our friends are troubled or are in need. We need to not only strive to make ourselves "uncomfortable" by actively caring for one another (like in the Welcome Night skit), but should become comfortable with it as well. We should show brotherly (and sisterly) love to one another just like the Thessalonians, who were "taught by God to love each other" and were urged "to do so more and more." (1 Thess. 4:9-10)

| In the Spirit of Reminiscing...
Wow... I have not touched my xanga in a while. Suppose there hasn't been much to post in the last six months or so, unlike the good ol' days in 725. I still remember being a cooky sophomore, taking weird pictures with my camera and entertaining (and in some cases scaring) my faithful blog readers. It seems like such a long time ago that I was able to act so carefree, without worrying whether my immaturity would scare underclassmen haha. Anyway, more on my thoughts later. Here are some pictures of old:
Me and Dan torturing Mike (Leong). We sure taught him a lesson for being a freshman. (I don't think I ever posted this picture). Freshmen and Sophomores, bet you didn't know this about Mike now did you?
Brotherly love The superhero side of Sam you never knew. I had to hide behind a couch in order to get him in action
The infamous magic carpet. And everyone thinks males are violent
Adrienne and Will in their natural habitat. Adrienne, please don't kill me.... More to come later Booyakasha | | |
